It was about the general lack of visibility of trans people, including (or especially) in the “LGBT” community. There are people in the LGB community who seem not to accept trans people and their needs. Some of them may think that the T* community is far from the LGB movement, or even that their political goals and interest do not overlap. The apparent fear that the T* community jeopardizes social and political acceptance of gays and lesbians is a pressing issue that must be challenged. I took part in order to introduce the No Hate speech Movement and the campaign but i also highlighted the support and solidarity towards Transgender people by showing them the videos and various activities from the activists. They are not alone!“LGBT” community.

The event started with the introduction of the National Campaign Committee held by Kristóf Téglássy, the key person from the Human Rights Ministry and an introduction of the Council of Europe campaign by Bálint Molnár, the vice director of the European Youth Center Budapest.
Foundation of Subjective Values is a member of U-CARE – Urban Culture Against Racism in Europe project, where 11 organisations in 8 countries across Europe join forces and pool their knowledge to combine an anti-racist/anti-discrimination peer coaching approach with urban culture and media.

Young people with diverse cultural backgrounds (including the national majorities) will be educated in national seminars and an international summer academy 2013 to become U-CARE Junior Coaches. They will be empowered to spread the message of increasing mutual understanding and combating racism and discrimination.

Being part of urban youth scenes themselves, they have potentials of reaching other young people that are mostly inaccessible for adults from social majority groups. Thus, the U-CARE Peer Coaches will carry the torch of respecting cultural diversity and deconstructing negative stereotypes on to other young people. Together with them, they will do workshops, run campaigns and create public events making the U-CARE message visible, reaching 1000+ young people all over Europe. After this project, the U-CARE Junior Coaches will be ready to run further activities on their own.

Join the U-CARE summer academy! U-CARE summer camp will take place in Germany for two weeks in August where participants will get trained. After becoming peer-coaches, you will get the opportunity to be paid workshop leaders by applying creativity and producing artistic creations. Interested individuals can contact our staff to inquire more about the U-CARE project (Find the contact details on our web-site).

The event has been organized on 27th of November and took place in Nagy Diofa utca right next to Masolit books. This supposed to be a conference but the organizers decided to make it as a workshop that everyone could participate, add something and contribute. The organizers of the evening are KLIT organization and Infoshop that were set up half a year ago. However, the place was really nice, full of posters of their events, books, prints and brochures. KLIT and Infoshop also had some prints that were made like books on the topic of the evening. They were asking for some small support around 200-300 Ft, as they are young foundations, if some people would love to take those prints.

The workshop supposed to start at 17:00 o’clock but some people were coming late. When everyone arrived, they were around 20 people; the lecturer started his speech and asked everyone to have some small introduction. Most of the audience was feminists, activists, history students and fascists. The evening was recorded with a dictaphone on a phone, as an audience agreed that it is fine for everyone.

The lecturer started with a deep dark past of Hungarian fascism in Hungary, as there were lots of international people present. He was also showing maps to the audience, how Hungary was changing trough the time. The visitors were adding some information, some of them were even arguing with each other. However, the topic of the evening was brought to the visitors and discussed between everyone.

The workshop was nicely organized because everyone were relaxed, listening, talking, having some drinks etc. The atmosphere was friendly and welcomed. What was really surprising; people met at first time but it seemed like they knew each other for a long period of time; they were so friendly, talkative and nice.

On the 16th of November Foundation for European progressive Studies organized an event on a topic of Democracy, freedom and liberty in central and Eastern Europe. The event was held in Le Meridien Hotel and visited by many representative people. The interpretation was available in both English and Hungarian languages that made it international.

FEPS is the first progressive political foundation established at the European level where the co-founder is the European Parliament. It aims to establish an intellectual crossroad between social democracy and the European project. The mission of the foundation is to re-think the core of social democracy to shape a better future for all, re-store trust in politics and to promote a true European space for debates, re-build progressive political economy to foster a new model of development and to re-invent international relations and the role of the EU in the world.

The event started at 9:00 o’clock with welcoming by Vilmos Szabo, who is a chair of Tancsics Mihaly Foundation and Imre Szekeres, who is a chair of Jozsef Attila Foundation. The introduction was made by Zita Gurman, who is a president of PES Women and after Andras Inotai, who is a researcher from Institute for World Economics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences went through a new socio-economic paradigm. Rene Cuperus, who is also a researcher but from Wiardi Beckman Foundation was talking about enhanced democracy. These people were trying to define democracy in the face of many problems like economical, social and political. After one and a half hour speeches, the event had a 15 min break where everyone had snakes and drinks. When a small break ended, people and lecturers returned back to a topic of the event.

The introduction of the second part of the event was held by a chair Massimo D’alema who is FEPS’ president. After that Vision towards a stronger European democracy was discussed by Hannes Swoboda, who is a chair of S&D Group of European Parliament, Sergei Stanishev, who is a president of PES and Attila Mesterhazy, who is a chair of MSZP in Hungary.

At the end, there was an interesting question that rose:”What a European democracy will look like?” The lecturers agreed that it will be mobile and messy with different languages and different historical experiences. It will be not simple and predictable but we hope on political miracle, the new prosperity and civilized democracy. Many Europeans in the west feared chaos when the dictatorships of the east fell. They were wrong because that should insist hope and confidence.
